How SeatMargin handles data
This notice describes the data used by SeatMargin and its shared Cashew Crate services.
Event models in IndexedDB
Event names, currency, capacity, ticket tiers, prices, fees, tax or levy entries, comps, held seats, costs, income, scenarios, notes, actual results, and completion state are stored in IndexedDB on the current browser. SeatMargin does not send those model contents to its own server.
Anonymous work uses an anonymous namespace. After sign-in, the browser opens a separate namespace keyed by the verified account ID. Logging out hides the signed-in workspace. Signing back into the same account on the same browser reopens it. Anonymous events are copied only when you choose the copy action.
Small browser records
localStorage holds the SeatMargin entitlement marker, development-only test state when applicable, and the cashewcrate-cookie-consent choice. The consent value is also written to a .cashewcrate.com cookie so the choice can be recognized across Cashew Crate subdomains. A legacy cookie-consent value is migrated and removed.
Retention, export, and deletion
Browser-stored events remain until you delete them, clear browser site data, or replace the workspace by restoring a backup. The workspace has a 200-event browser safety cap. JSON export provides a portable copy; CSV exports a readable event ledger. SeatMargin does not provide cloud backup or cross-device sync.
Authentication and billing
Sign-in, session checks, checkout, subscription status, and logout use the shared service at auth.cashewcrate.com. SeatMargin receives the signed-in user ID, email where supplied, and entitlement state needed to separate the local workspace and unlock paid features. Event names, line items, amounts, scenarios, notes, filenames, and exports are not included in checkout metadata.
Analytics and telemetry
Google Analytics can receive page and coarse interaction events under your consent choice. SeatMargin emits only named events such as model started, export used, a Pro lock viewed, settlement completed, checkout started, and entitlement activated. Those events do not include event model content or financial amounts. Before analytics consent, Google Consent Mode defaults storage to denied.
A Cashew Crate session beacon runs only after optional consent. It contains the app slug, event type, and timestamp, not event model contents.
Advertising
Google AdSense can load only after advertising consent. Ads are hidden while a current Pro entitlement is active. Google may process device, cookie, and ad interaction data under its own policies.
Feedback
If you use the feedback widget, the shared BugJar service receives the type, title, description, and optional email you submit, plus the SeatMargin slug. Do not paste event financial details unless you want support staff to receive them.
Your choices
You can reject optional cookies in the consent banner, delete events inside the workspace, clear SeatMargin site data in your browser, export a JSON backup, or sign out. Rejecting optional cookies does not stop the event calculator.
