EVENT ECONOMICS · BEFORE ON-SALE
Know which paid seat gets the room out of the red.
SeatMargin is a browser-based event break-even and ticket profit planner. Add ticket tiers, fees, complimentary and held seats, costs, other income, and a turnout assumption. SeatMargin checks each whole paid-attendance level within the room and inventory limits, then reports the first feasible break-even.

01 Is the target feasible inside this room?
02 Which tier and fee assumptions change the result?
03 How far did the actual event move from plan?
ONE MODEL, WHOLE ROOM
A point estimate can hide the expensive seats.
A fixed venue bill behaves differently from catering per head. A steward added every 60 guests creates another step. Early tickets run out. Complimentary guests can still add catering costs.
SeatMargin keeps those mechanics separate and evaluates each attendance level allowed by the room and ticket setup.

From room limit to go/no-go.
SeatMargin keeps physical capacity, ticket allocation, revenue deductions, and cost behavior separate so each assumption can be checked.
- 01
Set the physical limit
Enter total room capacity, then subtract complimentary and held seats to define the sellable limit. Choose whether selected per-head costs also apply to complimentary guests.
- 02
Build the ticket and cost ledger
Fill ticket tiers in sequence or allocate them as a proportional mix. Add buyer surcharges, absorbed fees, a tax or levy rate, fixed costs, per-head costs, step costs, sponsorship, and other income.
- 03
Check every whole-ticket turnout
SeatMargin calculates each paid-attendance level from zero to the modeled limit. The result shows retained revenue, costs, profit, margin, occupancy, the first break-even, target feasibility, and assumption warnings.

PLAIN ANSWERS
Before you put numbers in.
What does SeatMargin calculate?
SeatMargin calculates organizer revenue, costs, profit, margin, and the first whole-ticket attendance level that reaches break-even or a target. In sequential mode, the calculation stops at the lower of ticket inventory and sellable room capacity.
Does SeatMargin predict ticket demand?
SeatMargin does not predict demand or attendance. The organizer enters turnout and pricing assumptions, and SeatMargin calculates the financial result of those inputs.
Can SeatMargin include comps, fees, and tax?
SeatMargin can reserve complimentary and held seats, include selected complimentary guests in per-head costs, and account for buyer surcharges, absorbed percentage and flat fees, plus a user-entered tax or levy rate.
Where does SeatMargin save event data?
SeatMargin saves event models in IndexedDB on the current browser. Signing in separates local workspaces by account, but it does not upload or back up event data. JSON backup and restore are available on the free plan.
What is included in the free plan?
The Free plan costs $0 and supports one complete browser-local event with the full ticket, fee, cost, income, turnout, print, CSV, and JSON workflow.
What changes with SeatMargin Pro?
SeatMargin Pro costs $3/month and unlocks multiple local events, three-scenario comparison, an 11 by 11 price-attendance grid, actuals and portfolio views, client PDF export, and an ad-free workspace.
